Thailand
So. My takeaways from Thailand:
- Papaya Salad is awesome!
- 30 degrees and rain is better than 3 degrees and rain
- I like Bangkok
- Singha is the best beer (in Thailand…)
- Diving is ace!
- There are many idiots traveling in Thailand, because
- it’s quite cheap
- it’s very accessible and secure
- there is a quite big “western” impact, especially in touristy places
- There are cool people traveling in Thailand, because
- you can still find places with vibe
- it’s easy going
- Thailand is 40 years ahead of India
- You say “No thanks I don’t want this/that” and people stop bothering you (that was shocking)
- Check my pictures!
One (last) night in Bangkok…
…and the world’s your oyster The bars are temples but the pearls ain’t free. You’ll find a god in every golden cloister and if you’re lucky then the god’s a she I can feel an angel sliding up to me. ;-)
I have a lot to write about Thailand and my last destinations…but I will do that when I am back home. Gonna meet Fanny now for some last street food and bar adventures! Cya!
Leaving Phi Phi
..and going to Railay for the last couple of days. I had a good time here including sharks while snorkeling :) the only bullshit thing that happened is that I somehow managed to unseal my moskito net during one night….nice result were 10 fecking ichy moskito bites. say lope. I am usually really careful - thats why this is so annoying, especially becasue there are still cases of Dengue fever here on Phi Phi - nasty stuff.
Railay is supposed to be awesome. It was a recommendation by one of Fannys friends. We will see. my boat leaves in 4 hours. I just realize that the keyboard here sometimes doesnt do upper case letters…..anyways. I booked a flight back to Bangkok on Friday and my flight home is on Saturday. this might be my last post. see ya guys soon or some of you next monday at work :ugly:
Bangkok and Koh Phi Phi
I was heading back to Bangkok for Fanny’s and Manu’s wedding and of course to see a bit of the sun… Wedding was really funny. Very informal. Sitting at some office signing documents. I took some 15 minutes of video which will be avaiable once I am back in DubDub. I also have some really funny pics..haha. you will see. Manu looked stylish running around Bangkok in his suit. Business as usual ;-). I realized that my time is also passing by very very quickly. Its almost weekend and I have 9 or 10 days or so left. I took a flight from Bangkok to Krabi yesterday. From there I took a boat to famous Koh Phi Phi. By far too touristy for my taste but the island itself is really really beautiful. Once again heading to a remote place in pouring rain was tricky…. You still see some Tsunami damage here on the island. Once again the only problem is the weather. It is pissing down without end. Too bad that the rain season just won’t stop this year. So don’t be surprised that I am not really tanned when I come back 8-). Anyways I will check this here for 2 more days and then I might want to see another place….we will see what happens. So long!

Diving in Koh Tao…
Yep I am still here on Koh Tao. Finished my PADI Open Water diving class today. I will go right on with the advanced classes - including deep dives (around 30 meters) and night dives… Guess that’s gonna be a lot of fun. The weather is still crap but it is raining at least only once in a while. I do not really care as I am under water anyways most of the time. Unfortunately the bad weather has also some effect on the visibility under water. Yesterday was excellent but today was pretty bad. Even more bad is that we took loads of pictures under water today and did all that fun stuff… it was a good exercise in any case. Hope its getting better tomorrow. So long…
Koh Tao
Huuuh I arrived at Koh Tao. A beautiful place. I was supposed to to my diving here. Just one minor problem: the weather is miserable. It is raining all the time. Well thats sounds too nice actually - this is not rain any longer I should rather call it…hmm I actually have no words for this mayhem. I have seen some fecking heavy rainfall but Koh Tao might top the list now. The ferry entered the port and we were not able to leave the pier. Most of you remember the summer in Dublin this year. You take all the rain together during those 50 whatever miserable days and let it all fall down one one square meter in Koh Tao in 3 seconds. Guess that hits the bulls eye. IT IS FUCKING MISERABLE!!!. Sure I was aware that it might rain once in a while and I picked some “off season time” on purpose but I really didn’t expect this. There were some Thai people standing at the pier shaking their head in silence. So we could not leave the pier (!) and had to wait an hour or so in the office of the pier station. Really strange. You just saw a “river” coming from the island burying everything under it. Streets are gone and so on… I actually wanted to head to some remote beach at the other side of the island but thats was out of question now. But well I eventually managed to get to some beach and I also found a really nice and cozy bungalow here. Problem remains though: what to do now? I wanted to do some diving but I really doubt that you can see anything underwater at the moment. Such a pity. At least I do not care about a tan :) Julie would have left immediately ;-) Hey Julie are you reading this? So for now I decided to wait for 2 or 3 days or so and see what happens. Maye I will do some diving anyways - if possible. People seem also pretty desperate here: many said that it was raining constantly for a week now and that loads of people left (its quite empty). Say Lope! Also say lope is that tonight is the big Full Moon Party in Ko Phang Nga. Too bad! Right…. will go reading and watch rain falling down now!
