Gefühlte 10 Jahre nach meinem Marokko Trip finde ich jetzt auch mal kurz Zeit ein klein wenig darüber zu bloggen. Ziel war in Marokko zu surfen – das funktioniert theoretisch ganz gut, wenn man sich in einem Surfcamp einquartiert. Das ganze nennt sich Endo und hat auch noch Ableger auf den Maledieven, Südafrika und sei neuestem auch Irland. Es fällt gerade relatich schwer hier nen guten Einstieg zu finden…Leute waren echt cool, Wetter war auch geil, so gegen Ende fehlten ein wenig die Wellen, aber das war mir als Anfänger eh relativ egal. Ich habs auch ziemlich ruhig angehen lassen…. sollte ja schließlich auch sowas wie Urlaub sein…naja, das mit der Erholing war so ne Sache – mit 60% Schnarcher im 5 Bett Zimmer plus den typischen Surf-Schmerzen (Schulter, Rippe etc.) wars mit der Nachtruhe eher spärlich bestellt…aber da muss man halt durch! Das ganze hat übrigen in Tamraght stattgefunden – so ne halbe Stunde nördlich von Agadir. Agadir selber iss eigentlich beim besten Willen nicht der Reise wert – ausser dem Souk, der echt Spaß gemacht hat! Ne Promenade am Strand inklusive der zahlreichen Touri- Bunker – die sollte ich ja später noch kennen lernen…….

In unserem Ort selber ging Null Komma Null. Das hat aber auch keineswegs interessiert, da das Camp selber mit ner supercoolen Dachterasse und netten Leuten alles rausgerissen hat.

Typischer Tagesablauf:

Aufstehen
Frühstück
Chillen auf der Dachterasse
Surfen
Abschmieren auf der Dachterasse
Abendessen
Früh pennen gehen

Ganz nach meinem Geschmack – die Mittagssession hab ich mal schön immer ausfallen gelassen…. man muss es ja nicht übertreben… ;-)

Das Kaff weiter ist in der Surf Szene wohl bekannter: Tagazoute. Dort hab ich mir aufm kleinen Markt ne Sidi Ali Mütze gezockt. Sidi Ali ist der Name des Wassers, das man dort kaufen kann.

Danach hatte ich meinen Name weg: Sidi Ali! Interessanterweise haben mich selbt Marokkaner auf einmal nicht mehr für nen Finnen, sondern für einen der Ihren gehalten…

Warum eigentlich nicht? Ich wollte samstags zurückfliegen. Bin dann irgendwann am Flugi, eingecheckt und am Gate. Da erreicht mich ne SMS von Aer Lingus. Der Flieger musste in Lissabon landen weils ein technischen Problem gibt. Man wolle es dort beheben und dann weiter nach Agadir fliegen und uns abholen. Hmmm ok. Doof nur dass 2 Stunden später oder so noch ne SMS kam: Flug gestrichen. Bitte an Aer Lingus Rep wenden. Super. Nach ner Weile irgendwann kam dann das Announcement, dass man jetzt in ein Hotel gebracht werde – Aer Lingus bezahlt. In dem Moment dachte ich mir schon dass ich ins Camp zurück fahren sollte – schließlich iss samstags ja Cocktailabend angesagt! Doch ich wusste nicht wann der Flug am nächsten Tag gehen sollte. Nunja, erstmal zurück nach Agadir City und dann im “Royal Atlas” abgestiegen. 5 Sterne Bunker…Haha…eigentlich wars schon geil… Riesen Zimmer und sogar noch relativ stilvoll eingerichtet. Dummerweise waren die Gäste leider alles Pausch-Spinner. Aber die haben den kompletten Flieger da einquartiert… Nunja, ich hab mich dann noch mitn paar Iren zusammengetan und da noch was gegessen. Da ich relativ müde war hab ich auch abends and der Bar nicht lange ausgehalten. Morgens nachm fetten Frühstück bin ich dann noch volltouritechnisch am Pool gesimselt… Feist!

Irgendwann relativ spät gings dann wider zum Flugi: 14.30 neue Abflugzeit. Daraus wurde dann erstmal 17.30 oder sowas. Dann endlich im Flieger. Pilot meinte: Ja sorry, Klimaanlage im Eimer – keine Ersatzteile – jetzt alles easy. Cool. Dumm nur dass so nach 90 MInuten Flug erneut ne Durchsage kam: Yo sorry, Klima wieder im Eimer – wir müssen am nächsten Flugi landen – wie der Zufall es so will war das wider Lissabon. Schöner Mist. Da gelandet und im fiesen Transitbereich abgeklebt. Dann konnten sie das Ding auch nicht reparieren und Aer Lingus hat dann ne Maschine aus London geordert die dann nach Lissabon geflogen kam um uns nach Dublin zu schippern. Geil dass ich dann supercool am Montag um 6 morgens da ankam. Klasse!

Nunja, jetzt hab ich grad keine Lust mehr auf bloggen – und auch keine Lust die Tippfehler zu checken – mach ich morgen, denn ich wollte ja sowieso nochn alle Videos uppen – vom Rock Pool Jumping im Paradise Valley. Coole Tour! Ein paar sind auf youtrube jetzt:

OK viel passiert, hier die Kurzform, bzw. das was ich noch behalten hab – in keiner bestimmten Reihenfolge…

Nick Cave Konzert: Ja, das war nicht schlecht! Stattgefunden hat das Ganze im Innenhof des Dublin Castle. Ein wahrlich passender Rahmen für Meister Cave – obwohl es da im Innenhof nicht soooo unglaublich feudal zugeht. Aber immerhin. Nick C. war in bester Laune und hat 2 Studen oder so echt ne coole Show abgeliefert. Er hat auch so seine Witzchen gerissen – ich fand das alles in allem nen klasse Abend! Vor allem wenn man zu sowas easy “zu Fuß” erreichen kann…
Ricardo Villalobos Konzert: Tjo, was soll man sagen? Gott Ricardo kam wieder nach Dublin und zwar ins Tivolie. Ich fands das letzte mal im Traffic eigentlich besser – war halt viel kleiner. Trotzdem wars echt geil. Der Mann hats halt einfach raus. Top!
…And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead Konzert in der “Academy“. Verdammt war das laut! Schon lange nicht mehr auf nem so lauten Konzi gewesen. War echt ein wenig zu stramm…. kam aber gut bei der Mucke :)
Irgendwas stimmt hier nicht mit dem Wetter: es war echt relativ schön die letzten 3-4 Wochen. So kanns weitergehen!
Surfern: Ich war Surfen – Spot war Bundoran, Donegal. VERDAMMT ist das Wasser kalt. Aber mit entsprechendem Anzug gehts so 2 Stunden lang. Muss ich definitiv wiederholen!!! Pics hab ich auch noch…bald…
hmmm da war noch mehr, fällt mir aber jetzt grad nicht mehr ein… ;-)

München und Sölden

Ja, war für 3 Tage in München auf der SMX Munich. Hat echt Spaß gemacht. Leider hab ich von München nur den Flughafen und das Hotel gesehen. Naja, man kann nicht alles haben! Danach gings über Dublin mehr oder weniger direkt nach Sölden zum G-Skitrip. War echt klasse! Supergeiles Wetter! Neben Snowtubing und einer Gletscher-Safari hab ich in dem völlig verzerrten Aqua-Dome rumgesimselt. Echt korrekt muss ich sagen! Nunja, ich check mal meine pics und werde die dann uploaden – sollten ein paar echt coole dabei sein! So long…

Donegal

Ich war übers Osterwochenende mal wieder an der Westküste. Diesmal in Donegal. War echt klasse. Einziges und bekannte Problem war mal wieder das absolut unberechenbare Wetter. Sonnenschein im Auto, Wanderung mit Regen und richtig kalter Wind. Gewohnt haben wir bei Paul Chatenoud in seinem fantastischen “GreenGate B&B“. Paul ist defintiv ein Unikat. Er kam vor 10 Jahren oder so nach Donegal um ein Philosophiebuch zu schreiben…und ist praktisch dort kleben geblieben. Sein B&B ist einfach genial. Nur 4 kleine Zimmerchen kann Paul anbieten – entsprechend “intim” ist das ganze. Checkt mal seine “about Page“! Kann ich nur empfehlen! Hier sind noch ein paar pics!

Morgen flieg ich für 3 Tage nach München. Bin mal gespannt!

back from the Fusion Festival: was great! Thx to Udo Köhletzki, Alex Empire and Acid Pauli for the good time! ;-)
eventually upgraded to Ubuntu 7.04 and my Thinkpad is in overheating mode – help!!! Must be a bug…
there is still no Irish summer… (and never will be)
I am thinking about a smoothie and a nice sandwich but I am still in bed typing this…
will there be a new century team mad! gala in the near future?

Fusion Festival!

It’s time for festivals again! And there is no discussion where to go: it has to be the Fusion! People always ask me here in Ireland what makes the Fusion so special compared to other festivals. There are many different reasons.

It is not a crazy rip off festival: The ticket is nothing if you compare it to some festivals here in Ireland. If you are early it will cost you only 35 Euros! What a bargain – the ticket for the Electric Picnic is 220 Euros this year. Sure, the lineup is great but wtf???
The atmosphere is just different! Hard to describe – check the “official” description!

You can do whatever you want! There is no shitty fence between the Festival and the campside. No stupid bouncers check if you carry a bottle of whatever to the stages or crap like that…
The area is cool! An old Russian military base – hangars transformed into stages
and so on…..

I am really looking forward to be there again! Flight is booked and oolong also managed two tickets for Sonic Youth in Berlin the day before! Good stuff!!!!

Back and Amoeba Record Store

Back in Dublin. There was a hailstorm when I stepped out of the airport here in Dublin – Welcome to Ireland! Jetlag was bad as usual – didn’t sleep at the plain at all and almost cracked waiting in London for my connection. But 17 hours of sleep the next night felt really nice – after watching the cup final in Germany. Nice attack Meira! ;-)

Anyways – I managed to download the Amoeba Video from my Camera – again: cool store! Check out the Ameoba Tour: walking around for 7 minutes. You can’t read much but who cares… :-)

Alcatraz, Amobea, the Beer&Oyster Festival and Björk

As you can see – a lot of stuff happened during the last couple of days and everything was good fun. We went to our Alcatraz trip right after the baseball game. A ferry took us to the island and the views of Golden Gate Bridge and the San Francisco skyline were truly amazing. I saw the “Escape from Alcatraz” flick with Clint Eastwood as Frank Morris really often – at least 15 times. The whole Alcatraz thing always had some “effect” on me – especially the story of Morris and the Anglin brothers with their successful? escape. So two weeks ago I finally had the opportunity to visit the island. Although it really was a touristic thingy – its basically the only opportunity to get there – it was a fantastic trip. Walking around in the building, checking the various cells and the D-block, the ouside area – cool shit. Especially if you image some guys spending quite a bit of time there and always the lively San Francisco so close and at the same time so far away – strange. And you can also see the cell of Frank Morris and the actual whole he dug into the wall…

Another main trip objective was to check out the Amoeba record store in Haight-Ashbury. What a record store! I spent more than 3 hours there just digging around. They have so much stuff there – awesome. I took a 10 minute video of just walking around the store – unfortunately I cannot up it because I am just unable to get the file off my camera – no idea why. But I am confident to manage that when I am back in Dublin.

I went to San Francisco again yesterday with some team mates to visit the Beer&Oyster Festival. Haha – a taste of Ireland I would say. The sun was shining and it was quite a relaxed atmosphere – with some Guinness as a catalyst…

We didn’t spend too much time there though – we had some tickets for a Björk concert at Shoreline Amphitheatre. Good show! Loads of people and as we bought the cheap tickets we were pretty far away from the stage but still – it was worth it!

This is my last weekend here in California. I am flying back to Dublin on Friday! I uploaded some of my pictures! Check them out!
