Spent another weekend in San Francisco. I was basically walking around all the time. I started close to Union Square and ended up pretty quickly in a bad neighbourhood - it is quite strange - two blocks away from shiny city center. Loads of homeless people and even more really suspicious guys hanging around - smoking crack in the streets and so on… felt better when I reached a safer quarter again. Made a long walk towards the north - ending up in a really touristy area around to Peer 39. OK, ticked! The weather was really bad - it was raining and I was pretty soaked through.
Met some other ambassadors in a restaurant in the Italian quarter for dinner… we enjoyed again a Saturday evening in SF pubcrawling afterwards - it was raining cats and dogs the whole evening…
Fabulous weather the next day! The sun was shining and we chilled out in Golden Gate Park - well it was more walking around - very nice! Also the area close to the park - Haight Ashbury - full of Hippies and alternative people - loads of Shops and cafes - skateboarding everywhere - the place to spend some time!
Anyways I split first - had to take the train home - I just felt too trashed from the day before! I really would upload some pics but right now I am too lazy and I also didn’t really put a lot of effort into it yet! But there will be some soon!

Finally - was pretty dead for the last two days. Guess that’s because I carried the jetlag right into the first “working week”. Just saw the RemedyIreland Newsletter in my mailbox and I had to horrifically realize that I will miss the following:
London Elektricity
DJ Hype (ok - saw him last year..)
Dillinja
Soul Jazz Soundsystem (100% Dynamite…)
J Majik
as well as: The Melvins and Kid Koala
Hmm - Shoite! Anyhow - received some interesting San Francisco - electronic - music - event - links though! Have to check that out! Looks promising! Alcatraz tomorrow! Great Backgammon plans! Stay tuned!

There was no time left on the weekend to take care of my jetlag. I teamed up with 3 other ambassadors and we took the Caltrain and went straight to San Francisco in the morning. Ok, I was pretty dizzy in the morning but whatever… San Francsico seems to be an interesting city. We walked around for a while and thank god it was clearing up…. it was raining during the train ride. It’s funky to see these steep streets and thinking about Steve McQueen’s legendary chase. We actually passed the legendary corner where he kicks ass at 50mph…
We booked a room in a dorm for 22 bucks - Pacific Tradewinds - really cool staff! Of course we went out in the evening - rocking around in North Beach. We were in good company as a guy living in San Francisco showed us the cool places - Thanks Den! Especially the freaky dice game versus the chinese freak bar tender in Buddha bar was excellent fun!
Next day we went on a trip to Napa - for some wine tastings. We crossed the Golden Gate Bridge and I have to say that the views from there towards the bay are just outstanding. Wow. Napa was nice as well - even though the guys in the wineries talked too much and poured not enough wine ;-)
They do a good job there - but guys take it easy - you should not mess with some stone old French wineries! Anyhow they have some nice stuff there - check out Sideways to get an idea!
Today was my first working day in the Googleplex. People in my team are really really nice and did everything to make me feel at home! Thanks a lot guys! They also took me to a welcome lunch to Cafe 150 - located on the ground floor of our building - WHAT A FANTASTIC LUNCH! You probably heart a lot about google food - the food in my home office in Dublin is really good, but what they are kicking off there is just ultra violence - they had some special Thanksgiving menu today - omfg………….

Just entered my new place in Mountain View! The jetlag just kicks in very well…. Was at g’s TGIF though to make jetlaglife bearable… and I just missed Bill Clinton visiting the Googleplex…….Anyhow… more details soon!!!
Yep - I am getting ready for California. I will fly out on Friday, 13th (damn…) via London to San Francisco. I am looking forward to see our headquarter in Mountain View and to escape Dublin’s “spring” - it’s summer there… :)
Well, I cannot complain at the moment - the weather here in Dublin is perfect - had a bbq two days ago at Sandymount beach - and hopefully another one later today - at Clement’s place - btw- thx Clem for this cool Lee Scratch Perry Guinness commercial!!
