Trip to Sligo

Sligo beach

Mattia came up earlier this week with the idea to go to the westcoast on the weekend! Of course! Our target was Sligo - a town (village) in the northwest of Ireland. It is kind of famous for its nice beach and also well known as a pretty famous surf spot. We - that was Mattia, Mattia’s friend Mattia and me - decided to turn the thing into a daytrip: going there early in the morning by train and coming back to Dublin in the evening - which at the end turned out ot be a very cool idea! So we took the first train in the morning at 8 - arriving three hours later. After a short walk around the town? we took a cab to Strandhill beach. Very nice! Funny: a fecking strong breeze and a hailstorm were waiting for is right on top of the dunes… No doubt - it was time for lunch and Guinness in a pub close to the beach!
But ist was clearing up after lunch and we had another long walk checking out the nice small bays around Strandhill. After a final pint we were heading back to the train station and back to Dublin! Cool day!
No doubt - Sligo must be a really cool place during summer! I will definitely go there again next year!

btw - oolong: any comments about this picture?

All Sligo pictures can be found here!

Fußball-Streaming…

Hallo! Aufwachen! In welchem jahrhundert lebt ihr denn? Lächerlich…

Dublin Comics

dublin Comics

So true! Yeah - we love Dublin! Like people love an old heavily worn fecked up jumper - you just cannot get rid of it - it would break your heart! And then you hate yourself because of this attitude… ;-)

Anyhow - back to the comics - I was in a comic shop last week - trying to find a birthday present - success! Found a real cool one! And then I saw these Dublin comics - had a short look - and bought them. One was €10 the other one was good value: €3! The picture is taken from the cheaper one - black and white - nice style! Called “In Dublin City” - Have to admit: just had a short look - didn’t really read it yet - but time will come… actually pretty stupid to post something about the comics before reading them… whateva!

The second one looks quite ok as well “Streets of Dublin” - there are also some pdf samples (no direct link you leechas…) on dublincomics.com - and it comes with some good old Dublin slang, lads!!

Pity about yer face. Me sister’s a right cracker. Ye might ‘a scored.

Right! I am finishing this post with a quote from the reverse side - and the promise to tell you if this guy is right!

If you read this comic you will know what Dublin looks like, smells like and sounds like. In Dublin City is an astonishing slice of magic realism that will captivate those searching for the Tang of Ireland

(Boycott) Coca Cola International Rules…

Today was the day! The “Coca Cola International Rules” took place in Croke Park! Quite a nice stadium and fecking huge: it has a capacity of 82000 people, which makes it the fourth biggest stadium in europe! The thing was sold out but we bought out tickets in advance - to  scale the legendary Hill 16! Mattia and Roberto joined me but we ended up in some other block next to the Hill. Not a big deal - the Hill seemed to be more or less the same as our Nally Terrace! What we saw then was pure cruelty! Ireland was humiliated by the Aussies! Well, I had no idea about the rules and stuff, but it was quite obvious that the Australians had total control over the game and that the Irish team kind of sucked! Accordingly, the crowd was not that enthusiastic as expected. Anyhow - it was an interesting experience, but I am quite sure that I will not fall in love with this game. Had some funny moments though - the game was 3 seconds old as the first players started pushing each other - peaking in a nice fight - big time! The referees were hardly interested in that - I mean - from a “soccer” point of view, this would have been a flood of red cards! But yes, its international rules - a respect thingy at the beginning of a game! Probably…..

Anyways - the final score was 69:31 for the Aussies! Bing! And always remember: Boycott Coca Cola!
